Hi,
Is there a way to downgrade license for already installed and in use SQL
Server like:
1. Downgrade Enterprise Edition license from processor based to say 25 CAL
based.
2. Downgrade Enterprise Edition SQL Server to Standard Edition?
OR would the only solution be uninstall-install.
ThanksHi,
1. Downgrade Enterprise Edition license from processor based to say 25 CAL
based.
There is a undocumented was to do this by editing the registry.
You have to edit the registry using regedt32 :- (Not recommended at all)
\\Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\_Microsoft
\Microsoft SQL
Server\80\MSSQLLicenseInfo\MSS_QL8.00\Mode key\
Change the value to 0 and you get both options available.
2. Downgrade Enterprise Edition SQL Server to Standard Edition?
You can upgrade from a lower edition to higher edition. But to downgrade an
edition is not possible directly. The only solution is
to take a backup of all databases , Installl standard edition , latest
service pack and restore the databases back.
Thanks
