Dotnet Code can be run in SQLServer in 2005-WHY?

Hi,
I had recently undergone training in YUKON.As the first class begun,i came
to know that in 2005 version,it is possible to execute DOTNET Code in SQL
Server.I was surprised by this. My trainer answered that,it was due to
performance, scalability and many other "ABILITY" terms...
Could someone please give me better answers on this as to why there is a
necesary to run dotnet code inside SQL Server? Any article/URL would be
appreciated greatly.
Thanks,
ShyamSee if this helps:

Thanks for the Link. But,it gives a better picture :)
I've another question based on this. I'm not very familier with Dotnet
Coding, since i've be dealing only with SQL Server 2000 as DBA. Now,Yukon has
more support for Dotnet with CLR integration. Can you please tell/advice me,
is it necessary for me to learn about Dotnet to survive in future as a SQL
DBA? If so,upto to what extent should i know in dotnet. I know it might not
be very revelent question, since dotnet is very vast. But,if you can help me in
this regard,it would bemuch appreciated. Thanks in advance.Let me know if any
links are available.
Regards,
shyam
