Does the SQL compact edition not work with vsto2005?

Does the SQL compact edition not work with vsto2005?

According to the Microsoft technical article "Rapid Application Development Using SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition and Visual Basic.NET" (http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb219484.aspx ) you need the SP1 for VS to use the sql compact edition

But this servicepack won't install with vsto2005

The problem is that the sql server compact edition 3.1 does not install well, and the sql server compact edition 3.1 VSTools won't install at all.

The install programm SSCE31VSTools-ENU.exe stops with the same warning as the SP1. The Warning is in the dutch language but sounds something like this: the program you try to update is not available.

Is there a workaround because i want to rewrite a big MSAccess/VBA desktop program in VS/SQL compact

You will need a Visual Studio Standard edition to work with SQL CE (and to be able to upgrade to SP1 etc.). Standalone VSTO 2005 does not appear to be patched by VS 2005 SP1.|||

Thanks Erik,

By saying "You will need a Visual Studio Standard edition to work with SQL CE", do you mean that there are no plans to make

SQL CE available for VSTO?

I then have to buy a standard or professional edition wich for my small one man company has about for 90% the same

functionality as VSTO?

|||I do not know MSs plans for VSTO. The problem appears to be that VSTO 2005 is not covered by Visula Studio SP1. Any comments, MS? - for now you will have to buy Visual Studio, so you can upgrade to SP1, as far as I can see, yes.
