Drawing error when rendering report in PDF

Hi
We had run SQL Server Report Services Service PAck2 and after installing that we are not able to open reports in PDF format. it gives drawing error .

Any help in this regard is appreciated.What the exact error message ?

As I had told we are having SQL Server 2000, SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services. Somebody in the forum suggested to install service pack2 which we did for earlier another issue where it was printing extra pages in both Excel and PDF. So after installing sp2 the PDF got messed up.

Any help in this regard is appreciated

Thanks Jens the link helped us solve the issue.There is another related issue which if you could show us a little direction in solving it. Here is the issue

We are working on SQL Server Reporting Services 2000. We designed a

report and exported the same into excel. The original report has lets

say one page information, then before printing when we see print

preview it shows up an extra blank page and similarly if the there are

two pages in the report ,in the preview we are seeing 4 pages ie two

extra blank pages. Any help to solve this issue would be appreciated.

The same thing we are exporting in PDF format also and here to same

issue.

We are in need of a solution. It would be of great help if you could help us in getting a solution to this issue.
We have SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2000 Reporting services and Microsoft Office 2003

|||Thats a really common problem. You defined the report margins to big. If the report exceeds the page format it will break the report to multiple pages. So make sure that the visible area of your report (and the additional borders) does not exceed the format specified on the report properties. Sizing the report will let you keep your report on one page per report page. Its something like playing around with the margins and sizes to fit all your data on one page.

DPE Error running on report Server

We created a DPE to pull data off a Web Service to be used as a datasource in
the reports we create. We created and added the code group to the
rssrvpolicy.config and rsmgrpolicy.config files. Also added the extension
name to the Data section of the RSReportServer.config file. The report works

>|||If you are an MSDN Subscriber, you should be able to download it through the
MSDN Subscriber downloads. It's stored under Server -> SQL Server -> SQL
Server 2000 -> SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services. You can also download SP
1 and 2 from the same place.
It might depend on what subscription level you are on, but if your company
is a subscriber, check it out.

Download a report from Reporting Services.

Hi,

I have a report that′s already in the reporting service (2000 and 2005 - both systems), that I need edit in order to make some changes, but the person who did the report already deleted the source. I only have the one that had been uploaded to the reporting services. In there i only see an option to upload the report, but not to download.

Is there any way that i can download the report from the reporting services?

Yes, you can download the .RDL file using the "Edit" link on the Report Manager report properties page, the SOAP API method GetReportDefinition, and in Management Studio by right-clicking on the report and selecting "Edit Report".

Keep in mind that the RDL you get out of the server will be exactly the RDL you last published, but it will NOT include changes made to data sources and parameters after the RDL was published.

Double Line border turn to be single in Reporting Service

I tried to set double in bottom border of text file. But it turned out to be single line either Previewing in Designer or Printing or Exporting to PDF. Does anyone have any idea?Try to increase width to at least 3pt|||

What version of RS are you using? Are you viewing the PDF at 100% zoom? It should work with a width of >3pt.

Could this be the result of border clipping? Is the report item you placed the double border on inside of another item? A border starts at the edge of a report item and extends out half the width on each side of this edge. If the item with a border is contained inside another item, any of the border that extends beyond the bounds of that container will be clipped. In this way, a double border will appear to show only a single border if half of it is clipped.

If that's not the case, would you please either post a simple demonstration RDL to this thread or open a bug on http://connect.microsoft.com so I can take a look?

We need to have links in a report that point to a web application that is located on the same box as the SSRS web service. We don't want to hard-code the base URL in the RDL because this will change from development to staging to production. Where can we store this base URL? Can an RDL access a config file?

YOu could use a custom component for this, but this is for me a classical thing of storing the information in a database and pulling it out to a textbox which displays the data.

Dont think Discretization function is necessary on the Analysis Service server in SQL Server 200

I am just wondering about the Discretization function available on analysis service server (which can not actually discretize data into user-defined expressions) . Isnt it redundant ? I mean since users can discretize their data more meaningfully based on their own expressions in database engine of SQL Server 2005.

It is helpful in many circumstances. If you want a column discretized into statistically meaningful buckets, but there's no particular business reason for the breakdown, it is very useful. If there are particular business reasons for where the bucket divisions should occur, then you are correct, you should manually discretize apriori.

Eliminating a necessary preprocessing step for algorithms that don't support continuous values makes data mining easier for a wider range of people.

thanks - it was the missing master key.

Did I get it right, that thouse activation procedures are polling the queue ?
If yes - is there a way to use some kind of notification so that the activation procedure is just called every time when a message is enqueued ?

|||You did it correctly, but your messages are getting taken off as soon as you put them on there, through your receive * statements. You should try to receive one at a time and do something with those records.

MaryMary - reporting services can be installed without a domain.
However, users will still have to be authenticated when they navigate to
your report server. When they do so, they have to use a user account that
exists on that server. Of course, you could turn off authenication and allow
anonymous but I don't recommend that.
Easier using a domain... :)

My server is part of a W2K domain. What do you advice me as account to
run my SQL*Server, service started with a domain user account or as
local system ?

I need advices from a security point of view.

First, I would personally never recommend running SQL in a production
environment as Local System.

If the SQL proccess will ever need to connect to file shares on other
machines (like to backup data to remote location etc...) then you can either
use a domain account, or use local accounts with matching usernames and
passwords on the SQL server and any machine it may connect to.

If your SQL proccess will never connect to File shares, or similar resources
on the network, then you should run it with a Local User account on the box.

But of course, this is just my opinion.

Find My Computer on the start menu, choose properties, and look at the Computer Name tab. If You are not in a domian but workgroup, you should keep the domain field empty.

Btw, you are not planning to let the SQL Server Service run as an administrator account do you? That is really NOT a good idea.

Domain Groups For Clustering Service ?? SQL Server 2005

When I install the Cluster with Version of SQL 2005 CTP September ...
After the Service Accounts (Clusters) page,
Domain Groups For Clustering Service Page appears.
How Can i configure this page...there is no information about it on BOL of
SQL 2005
In my opinion , fill them with New SQL Groups is created when SQL Server
Installs such as
SQLServer2005MSSQLUser$InstanceName,SQLServer2005S QLAgentUser$InstanceName
and SQLServer2005MSFTESQLUser$InstanceName.
But in this Phase, those group was not created automatically...
So, I try to generate those groups Manually, but Failed...with error message
like "One or more domain groups could not be verified ..."
And i Try to use Domain Admins...but Failed with same error messages...
i found about BOL directions in "Setup\help\1033" folder like follows

So, I made three domain groups and put into builtin Administratos group.
and then proceed ahead.

|||You need to manually add the service accounts you specify during setup into
the groups before running setup (if you're having this issue - you shouldn't
really have to do this). I had the exact same issue and manually adding the
service account to them worked fine. Generally there will be 3 groups
(SQLServer/Agent + FullText). If you use the same service account for the
services then just add that to each of the 3 domain groups you create.

Following your directions,
I made three domain groups named as SQLUsers,AgentUsers,FTUsers
and put them into Built in Administrators group.
and then put the Service Account named as SQLService and administrator
account into three new groups.
But, in the page of Domain Groups For Clustering Service ,
Same Error message occured...
What did i miss ?

Does Visual web developer Express edition works with Ms 2000 Database Service?

I have made my website using SQL Server Express edition. It is totally database driven and manypages use databases to display data. My problem is that after paying for webhosting fees my web host told me that they do not support SQL Server express edition. Instead they have support for MySQL and Ms Access. Except that there is this MS 2000 Database service for an additional cost. Any recommendations what I should do except changing the host? If I pay for MS 2000 Database servicem, will my website work? My user management(i.e ASPNETDB database) was created by Visual Web developer and I don't want to do user management myself. Any advice?

I am also facing the same problem, i developed asp.net 2.0 application with Sql Server 2005 Express edition, with the bundled user managment facility. After completion the project, my host told, they only support SqlServer 2000 version.

In my website every pages linked with the database (connection strings). I dont know what i need to do?

Hi,

Actually you can import the aspnetdb database into your SQLServer2000 by aspnet_regsql tool, backup the database file, restore it on your server-side. In this way, you can use membership, profile with SQL Server2000 database.
