Download SQL Server client tools

Hi.
Despite the indignance of some people, here is the link to download the SQL
Server Client Tools for use with MSDE.
http://download.microsoft.com/downl...SP4-x86-ENU.EXE
I have downloaded MSDE and the Client Tools myself so I know this to be the
case. I came across this page when searching for the client tools for a new
laptop on which I have already installed MSDE.
I do wish that people would not confuse "I don't know how to do something" w
ith "it cannot be done." There's very little in this universe that cannot b
e done
Anyway, in answer to your question, you were half right. The download is on
ly part of SP4 (thankfully) and therefore only weighs about 67MB, and not th
e 240MB total SP size.
I hope this helps. Have fun!

http://www.eggheadcafe.com/forummerit.aspxI believe most people are looking for ways which are in
compliance with licensing agreements. You need a valid,
legal SQL Server CAL to install the client tools. If someone
does not have this, the methods you are suggesting are not
legal.
The gist of it is explained in the following link:

>Incidentally, if you can't install from the SP4 download, download the SQL
Server 2000 Evaluation and simply install just the Client Tools.

The appropriate uses of MSDE is no longer posted on
Microsoft's site since the release of 2005, but the related
Q and A stated:
Q. Can I use SQL Server tools and services in conjunction
with MSDE?
A. You can only use SQL Server tools and services in
conjunction with MSDE if you acquired MSDE through SQL
Server 2000 (Developer Edition, Standard Edition, or
Enterprise Edition), and if you are using MSDE in
conjunction with a properly licensed copy of SQL Server
2000. Visit the How to Buy page for information on obtaining
a valid SQL Server license.
Note: The tools and services included with SQL Server
Developer Edition may not be used to manage production
server environments.

build 2162

CSS (formerly PSS) is working on the replacement hotfix.

trying to use. It leads to a page with the following message: "The download
you requested is unavailable. If you continue to see this message when tryin
g
to access this download, go to the "Search for a Download" area on the
Download Center home page." I can't find it anywhere else. I guess I simply
need to stop pursuing it.

Read it at this link http://blogs.conchango.com/jamiethomson/archive/2006/02/21/2930.aspxthat selection from dropdown is equal to Select * . I agree but how do you not select AS400 library from dropdown? Also i have not see any other place to supply a query other than Execute Sql task .

Actually, the point of that blog post was that they are NOT the same.

In the OLE DB Source you have to choose whether to simply pick a table or supply a query.

Jamie, i was looking for some way if query could be done in a db2 connection and avoid dropdown. Even for sql connection where would you write the query, in a script because i didnot see any such option in propery page or edit option dialog. If you could suggest any link?

Have you even bothered to look?

Select "SQL Command" from the 'Data Access Mode' dropdown in the OLE DB Source.

Domain Collapse. Sql permission question.

Internally sql server uses SID of NT users to link them
with sql logins. I don't know if NT will preserve SIDs
when users are migrated to another domain. If it does then
users can login with Domain2\user1 and still have same
permissions in sql server based on their SID stored in
sysxlogins table, though their username will be displayed
as Domain1\user1. You can update sysxlogins table and
change users display name.
If users are assigned new SID by NT then I am afraid you
have to add them again and assign permisstions.
hth.

change the database permissions to reflect the new domain
names. Example Domain1\user1 is migrated to Domain2. user1
is now Domain2\user1. In SQL, the user is still displayed
as Domain1\User. Any idea. Thanks in advance.
