Don't think this can be done?

I have a table (which I didn't design ) which has the following columns
Monday,Tuesday, Wednesday,Thursday, Friday,Saturday ,Sunday
each of which are flagged by either an'X' to indicate there is something on
that day or an'-' to indicate nothing on that day.
Is it possible to write a statement to select the last day which has
something on?
i.e.
Monday='x' Tuesday='-' Wednesday='-' Thursday='x' Friday='-' Saturday='-'
Sunday='-'
is it possible have a statement that returns Thursday is the last day with
something on?
Thanks in advance,
Geoselect CASE Sunday WHEN 'x' THEN 'Sunday' ELSE CASE Saturday WHEN 'x' THEN
'Saturday' ELSE ...
I'm lazy so I won't write the entire script but you can see where I'm going.

wouldn't want to do anything that would prolong its unfortunate life,
but here goes:
SELECT ... ,
CASE
WHEN sunday = 'x' THEN 'sunday'
WHEN saturday = 'x' THEN 'saturday'
WHEN friday = 'x' THEN 'friday'
..
WHEN monday = 'x' THEN 'monday'
ELSE 'nothing'
END

When does your w start? Sunday or Monday? David and Jens solution
both assume from the listing of column names that Sunday is the last
day of the w (not the first). CASE will return the first result
that matches the conditional, so if Sunday is the first day of the
w, then you'll need to modify the statement accordingly.

Easy - write a seven-clause pivot select, create a reference table
with the names and ordering, and there you are!
Or use the case statement, it's no worse than the table.
J.|||Guys thanks for the input it's much appreciated. David I couldn't agree more
about the table design you should see some of the others I've inherited.

Does Yukon have diagramm designer?

I've installed Beta2 and havn't found this feature.
How can I now design my databse sheme?Use VISIO... That feature has been removed from the client tools, at least
for now.

Does VS.NET 2003 works with RS 2005?

That's it. If I have a server with RS 2005 and in my PC VS.NET.. can I design
and program reports?
Thanks
JaimeRS 2005 does not work with VS 2003. BUT, unlike RS 2000, RS 2005 comes with
a development environment if you do not have VS 2005. I.e. if you have VS
2005 then it integrates with that just like before otherwise it installs a
special version of VS that is just for developing reports.

do you know if SQL Server /RS/VS.NET 2005 can run on the same instance
of win XP as all the same on 2000? Or are we up for separate PCs or
separate operating system images? Just curious...
Thanks
Peter|||If all you care about is RS 2005, it does not have to have SQL Server DB
2005 to run, you can run RS 2005 using a 2000 DB as the object store (which
is what I plan to do, I have much more flexibility with upgrading RS than I
do upgrading SQL Server DB). Note that this does not mean you don't have to
have the 2005 license, you do, it is just that RS 2005 can be installed with
SQL Server 2000 Database.

thanks for that, it's good to know...we are just looking for the
improved charting....we can do all the character based reports
first...
